Before The Breakthrough
This month marks 4 years since I started my business!
4 whole amazing years of figuring it out, learning as I go, building something meaningful from scratch, and being stretched in ways I didn’t expect!
But before any of it began, I have to share, I almost didn’t launch my business!
I remember sitting at my desk, ready to share the announcement that the brand I had dreamed up was coming to life. I was nervously excited, and then, seemingly out of nowhere, SCREECH!!! I simply felt terrified.
That fear voice came rushing in big time!
"You're actually crazy to change careers."
"You're going to mess this up and regret it."
"People won’t take you seriously."
"You’re not ready yet."
"But really, who do you think you are?"
It was loud. Let me tell you, it felt so real, no one could tell me at that moment, that wasn't the truth. And it almost stopped me.
Key word...ALMOST!
What I know now, and what I’ve seen in many of my clients, is that the fear voice often shows up strongest when we are getting close to something big and meaningful.
It is not a sign that we are doing the wrong thing, in fact, it's actually a sign that we're stepping out of what's familiar and doing something BIG!
Our brains and systems are wired to protect us. They want to keep us in the know, even when that's not aligned or fulfilling. So when you move towards something and it becomes more and more real, your system sounds the gigantic alarm bells.
This fear voice is often trying to protect you from discomfort, from risk, from getting hurt or rejected. Even if it comes off as critical or harsh, it is doing what it was trained to do.
But here's the thing...that voice usually gets loudest right before something shifts!
It's often what shows up before the breakthrough.
It's often what happens right before the magic.
In The Drop In Community last week, we talked about what it looks like to actually sit with that voice, without pushing it away or giving it control. We practiced listening to it with curiosity and befriending it instead of pushing it away.
And now I want to leave you with the same reflection: If that voice is actually trying to serve you, even if it feels like it is holding you back, how is it actually serving you?
Let that question guide you. You do not have to know the answer right away. Just start there.
And thank you, truly, for being part of this journey these past 4 years. Whether we have worked together closely or you have simply been following along, I am so glad you are here. Thank you!
With ♡ and gratitude,
Jennifer
