NOT Available For That!
Last week in Monday's Drop In Community I asked the group a question that I wanted to bring to all of you.
Let me set the stage with a story from when I was dating, before I met my man. I don’t know if you knew this about me, but I was quite the serial dater and went on over 200 first dates!
Needless to say, I was looking for my partner for a really long time, which meant I went to plenty of events and weddings alone. At almost every single one of them, I’d be asked the question that would make me cringe:
“So tell me this, why are YOU still single?”
For me, it carried so much judgment, fear, and shame and almost every time someone asked, it sent me completely spiraling.
Then one day, I was sharing yet another cringy, spiraling moment and my coach asked me something that landed in my body like a lightning strike:
“What if you were just NOT available for that question anymore?”
So what she was asking was really...
What if I didn’t have to let that question live rent free in my head anymore?
What if I didn’t have to rehearse answers every time I walked into a room?
What if I could simply choose not to entertain it at all?
It was freeing just thinking about it. So right then and there I drew a line in the sand and from that moment forward, I simply wasn’t available for that question!
And in declaring that, it no longer had power over me. Here’s the truth: this isn’t just about dating. It’s actually about energy!
We all have moments where something, an expectation, a comment, a thought, pulls us into a spiral. And it's often the thing that we feel tight just thinking about. But when you decide you’re simply not available for it anymore, you stop giving it your energy. And also your power.
Then from that space, you get to say YES to the things that actually feel good to you.
So I want to ask you this today:
💗 What’s the energy you’re NO longer available for?
💗 And what energy ARE you here for instead?
Inviting you to name this and put it into practice this week. Then sit back and notice what shifts!
When you claim what you’re not available for, you also reclaim your energy, your confidence, and your power. And you open yourself to the life you’re actually here to live.
With ♡ and gratitude,
Jennifer
P.S. - In case you’re wondering what I actually said when people still asked me why I was single, my response was this, “I guess I just haven’t met him yet.” 😉
