A Little Extra

Last week I spent a few days with my best friend who lives overseas and it was such a treat to spend some in-person quality time together after two years! This past year we created a book club (just the two of us) to deepen our learning about some ripe topics on our hearts including social constructs, racial justice and gender issues. I’ll share more about our book club another time, as it’s been a source for learning and expansion for both of us!

In one of our books, we learned about a certain century old practice of women who live to fully express themselves through extra joy, love, pleasure and indulging in their own desires! These women would adorn themselves with the most beautiful and extravagant clothing for the sole purpose of feeling decadent and radiant, like the queens that they know they are. They would wear their fanciest glamorous jewelry to go to their version of the corner store and live each day as if they were attending the grandest of balls. They were women who didn’t just ask for what they wanted, but rather curated and created what they desired and lived for the “extraness” of life.

One night in our pjs, slumber party style, my friend and I did what any women who wanted to feel extra extravagant would do, we put on all our jewelry...ALL OF IT! We giggled, we laughed, we danced and sang and felt completely free. We reminded ourselves that we too could transform an ordinary night into one with extra fun, extra joy and extra decadence.

It’s my complete honor to champion people into their “extra”.
Extra love, extra joy, extra pleasure, extra alignment with purpose and extra energy! It’s really not about asking for the extra or even demanding it, it’s about creating it for yourself! What do you desire extra of in your life and what are you willing to shift to receive it?

This next week I’ll be enjoying some extra connection and extra relaxation and taking some space for vacation! Have a beautiful week ahead!
